What is Sketchbook Relay
Sketchbook Relay is a project where a set of small sketchbooks start off with one artist and then are passed on to another. The fun comes from seeing where they travel to next and the type of art each artist creates. Each artist will post images of their sketchbook pages on the Facebook Group which is open for anyone to join, follow and share the journey. The completed sketchbooks will be auctioned for charity.
Tara Roskell, that’s me 🙂 created the Sketchbook Relay Project. As part of the #the100dayproject I ‘d been doing I had been creating little cartoons based on post-it-note characters. Some of them were about being addicted to notebooks/sketchbooks. From the response on Instagram, I realised that it wasn’t just me that had the addiction. I thought it would be fun to create a project where sketchbooks were passed from artist to artist. My only worry is that the sketchbook addicts won’t be able to pass them on! As my art is digital I designed the covers for 10 sketchbooks and sent them off to artist around the world.
Tara Roskell lives in a world where cartoons are cool and creativity is king.
Tara is a freelance graphic designer who has worked in the creative industry for over 20 years, for both national and international companies. Her experience encompasses branding, literature, package design, and exhibitions. She also has a successful logo design video course with nearly 10,000 students.
When she’s not freelancing, Tara can be found scribbling cartoon ideas in her sketchbook, reading books on creative thinking, walking the dog or practising her not-so-high kicks learnt in her karate lessons.
Tara’s cartoons are inspired by both her imagination and real life events, though she is not prepared to admit which is which.
